The optical design is optimised for the image sensor of Fujifilm X system cameras. This lens is equipped with electronic contacts for reliable communication between the lens and body. Using bodies that support communication allows the transfer of exif data, focus check and shooting distance interlocking display. Certain models also support in-body image stabilisation and parallax correction functions.
The lens configuration uses the latest optical design which utilises one double-sided aspherical element and two anomalous partially dispersed glass elements. Although sporting an f1.2 aperture, it has excellent rendering with fine resolution at all apertures. Despite being a fast lens, it has a small diameter of 46 mm, a total length of 43.8 mm, and only weighs 214 g – making it very portable indeed. The minimum focus distance is 0.18m (shooting magnification 1:4.9). The lens includes a compact, screw in hood that reduces vignetting of the shooting frame.
