The Voigtlander Septon 40mm f2 Aspherical Z-mount is a pancake-style standard lens offering compactness suited to mirrorless cameras. Optimised for full-frame Nikon Z-mount sensors, it achieves an F2 aperture while retaining the benefits of the compact Orthometar type design. This is accomplished by adding one aspherical lens to the six-element Orthometar type. The Orthometar type is characterised by its short optical length and extremely low distortion.
With a compact overall length of 32mm from the mount flange, it minimises the hassle of carrying and retrieving from a bag. Its 40mm angle of view, suitable for use as a wide-angle lens, makes it ideal as an everyday lens. The minimum focusing distance of 0.3m also makes it excellent for table top photography. An included a dome-shaped metal screw-on hood that preserves the lens’s compactness.

The Voigtlander Septon 40mm f2 Aspherical Z-mount incorporates electronic contacts. When paired with a camera body supporting electronic communication and the latest firmware, it supports Exif information, in-body image stabilisation (3-axis), and three types of focus assist functions: focus assist via focus point frame colour change, focus assist via peaking function, and focus assist via magnification button.
